Soberan: In-Game Rewards
What is Soberan? It is our reward system for finishing threads that contribute to the overall health of the game in some manner.
What is all this going to accomplish? Fun stuff for your characters to make their lives easier (or harder, if you prefer), and the chance to earn stronger abilities and special opportunities as rewards.
What kind of rewards? That's where you come in! Right now we've got a relatively small list of Rewards, however if there is something specific you want please feel free to pitch it in your Soberan comment and if we determine it isn't potentially game-breaking it might well be added to the list!
To gain Soberan
• Complete the forms below to submit Finished logs to the moderation team. All Acts must be Finished threads that took place in one of the Saudade RPG communities.
• There is no expiration date on Finished threads. From your first Finding Log to current time, as long as the scene is no longer being replied to and has the Finished subject header or tag, it will count for submission purposes.
• Except in the case of character links, once a thread is turned in using one of the Forms at the bottom of this page to gain in-game benefits, that thread is considered "cashed" and cannot be re-used again.
What counts as an Act?
• Really, any significant event can count as an Act - saving someone from a rock crushing them, comforting a friend when they've lost someone, etc. Almost always, it will be significant enough to change characters CR in some way, even if it's just deepening an existing connection.
• All Acts must be marked with "Finished" in the subject header of the last comment, or tagged as complete, so the mods know your scene will not be updated further.
• Acts can be traded in for Rewards as detailed below.
Acts: The Four Kinds
If you're familiar with the Three Awakening Paths, and we hope you are if you wrote an application, then these will feel very familiar:
• Selfless Acts: From a friendly shoulder to cry on to taking a hit in combat, a Selfless Act puts other people first. Does not require your character to be harmed in the process.
• Insightful Acts: Sometimes you have a situation that neither selflessness nor quick action is the correct path, but rather deep thinking and planning. When a well conceived plan has come together, or a breakthrough has been made an Insightful Act has been performed.
• Originating Acts: Warriors know when to start fights, when to make snap judgments, and that is sometimes more important than lengthy planning. A quick action that strikes a decisive change for the better counts for this form of Act.
• Comprehensive Acts: Acts of this type more often fall under two or all three of the above categories. They showcase the best traits of a person, like a smaller-scale Strength of Heart Moment.

For an example of how to submit your requests, please check out this example below! If this is your first time submitting anything, you should start a thread for all requests for that one character by typing your character's name and canon in the header. Future comments should stack under your first submission. Always remember to submit your requests with links that start at the comment where the major moment that makes your thread qualify as that specific Act, then explain the context of the thread. Basically, we're asking you to pitch us why this thread qualifies - what exactly are we looking for to grant your request for Soberan?

Rewards
• Opening a Business: any 2 Acts
• Housing space increase: 1 Selfless Act + any other 1 Act
• Unique Weapon crafted for your character: 2 Originating Acts
• Unique Shield or Armor piece crafted for your character: 2 Selfless Acts
• Unique Staff or Wand crafted for your character: 2 Insightful Acts
• Stats boosts / other magical enhancements to any item: 1 Comprehensive Act + any other 1 Act
• Scrolls or Potions: Any 2 Acts
• Wild Magic Bonus of your choice: Melding of a new spell + 1 Insightful or Comprehensive Act. Wild Magic Bonuses are temporary bonuses that may last no more than a week, however they will be significantly more powerful than a permanent one for the duration of the bonus.
• Combo-Attack / Limit Break / Special Form i.e. "D-Linking": Any 3 Acts between the same 2 characters
Special: D-Linking is the only Reward that can use threads previously submitted for Soberan benefits or can be used later on. In all other circumstances, once a thread is submitted for Soberan it is considered "cashed" and cannot be re-used.
Special: D-Linking is also the only Reward that can be leveled-up, instead of simply cashed again - such as getting a second item. The second item is no more powerful than the first one. In the case of D-Linking, however, you can submit 3 Acts and the second D-Link power will actually be more powerful than the first.

- Can a single thread contain more than one Act?
- If a finished thread advances CR but doesn't contain anything particularly Selfless, Insightful, Originating, or Comprehensive, is it not eligible for Soberan despite being finished?

a log with multiple threads can be used for different acts, but each thread can only be cashed in once. so if you have multiple threads on a mission log, for example, you can submit each individual thread for Soberan, but each individual thread can only be used once. if a thread displays more than one act, please choose the one you feel is best illustrated.
we would really like for all threads submitted for Soberan to accomplish a purpose, which is what we set this system up for in the first place: to reward people who were proactive taggers and worked to have their characters really make a difference in the game. so if a thread really has nothing that could constitute any of the act types... we kind of wonder what the point of the thread was? essentially we wanted to discourage 'activity for the sake of activity' and reward threads that accomplished things like character development or in-game growth.
if the thread really has nothing that falls into one of the four act categories, it can still be used toward a D-Link with the characters involved, but to qualify for Soberan points, it does have to fit one of the categories.

Thread - Chrome and Lea: Siblings getting to know each other over cake and cherry blossoms.
Act Type: Selfless Act - Chrome is very nervous around adults, men in particular, so Lea takes special care to make her not feel uncomfortable or threatened; he shares some of his history in order to show her they have things in common.
Thread - Chrome and Lea: Lea gets a job and the siblings get a new apartment.
Act Type: Originating Act - Lea takes the initiative to get a job and get both himself and Chrome out of temp housing.
Thread - Chrome has bad nightmares, and Lea tries to be a good brother about it.
Act Type: Comprehensive Act - Chrome had a nightmare, so Lea makes her hot chocolate, but she's lactose intolerant so he takes the care to make vegan hot chocolate so she can drink it without getting sick, and then lets her just talk about what happened to her.

Thread - Khemrys meets a war veteran and offers some small aid.
Act Type: Selfless: She's a healer and that means speaking with those who have suffered as much as fixing a body. Mild - Will need more speaking with Roy to help the pain truly.
Thread - Some explaining and feeling out of world views with Finder Finch
Act Type: Insightful : This is a thread full of thinking and feeling thing out, a discussion of differences that opens Khem up to the idea of doctors and accepting (slightly) that titles mean vastly different things in other worlds.
Thread - An oath of aid to help find a sibling, and two 'siblings' feeling each other out. Or, rather, Khem forces magus to feel! Oops.
Act Type: Originating Act: More in the sudden and unilateral decision to give a binding oath to Magus. Otherwise the thread would most like fall under Comprehensive as there is fear faced, if not defeated, and futures set.
Thread - Khem is slowly working to understand magus and keeps setting him off balance
Act Type: Selfless: Ish? These are very limiting categories really. She offers insight to his character and what she believes some of his motives are in them. And calls him comforting. Odd kitty.
Thread - Khem refuses to let people sleep in dirt and dust in the first lantern mission she is on, and Magus questions her about it/puts up with her using him as a clothes line.
Act Type: Selfless: It's what she does, applying herself to the benefit of others, and leaving Magus with many things to think on.
Reward Requested: None atm. In time I want Khem to open her own shop/small clinic but I'm not there yet. I'm mainly using this as a way to keep track of finished threads.

Thread - Chrome and Lea get to know each other.
Act Type: Insightful. Chrome is an incredibly paranoid little thing and came to the decision that Lea was being nice out of loneliness, and she could accept that as a healthy reason. It may seem like a small thing, but it was the first chip in the wall around her heart.
Thread - Chrome realises just how much Lea has done for her and lets him into her heart while thanking him the best she knows how.
Act Type: Insightful. Again, there was a lot of thinking that went into her decision to call Lea onii-chan, not just from that comment but from the conversation beforehand. In the end, she doesn't just call him "older brother", she uses the more familiar -chan.
Thread - The last of the walls come down and not even her PTSD is able to keep her from touching Lea for as long as she wants.
Act Type: Comprehensive. She knows that it bothers Lea when the mental scars of her past come up and touch him, she's spent a lot of time turning over their relationship, and when it came down to it she touched her brother without fear.
Reward Requested: D-Link with big brother

Thread - Anna can't sleep and Hiccup entertains.
Act Type: Selfless Act - There was no reason Hiccup needed to even acknowledge Anna was there, but he talked to her and distracted her, and then he took her for a ride on his dragon to make her feel better.
Thread - Toothless eats Lea's cake and Hiccup basically flips his shit.
Act Type: I'm not actually sure what category this falls under, because it starts as a selfless thing where he really wants to make up for what his dragon did, but it ends with Lea actually helping him more. I thought that was pretty notable on both sides. If this thread isn't eligible, I'll wait and submit a less confusing one when I manage to finish it.
Reward Requested: ?!?!!?!?! I'm trying to get Hiccup his own business so he can do more crafting.
